School

by

School was not in session yet, but Bob and I met with some high school students. They are trying to find funds for school.  If they could get a solar panel to charge cell phones, maybe they could raise some money. It doesn’t cost much to go to school, but when you have nothing, coming up with anything is difficult.

Without school they will live their lives struggling as subsistence farmers. Girls will end up marrying young, and have lots of children all needing to be fed. None of them want that. So they worked hard to write a proposal for a solar panel donation.

We read their life stories – orphans trying to get by. Many have gotten scholarships, but cannot attend school because their clothes are tattered and they can’t afford uniforms. Scholarships and uniforms cost so little, but can make or break their lives.
