Santorini

Aren’t you getting sick and tired of hearing how beautiful and wonderful it is here?  Well, there is a shortage of ice, Bob is sunburned and there was a fly in our room.  Even though I ‘ve walked for miles on beaches, my heels are still scaly.  I am never reading another Jodi Picoult book again.  She takes you to the depths of depression and then plunges you further into despair.  Is that what I need?  I should be living in peace and harmony and I’m fretting over the dreadful lives of ficticious characters.  (Thank you Jeanine for recommending my new book, the History of Love!)  And furthermore, we went on a boat tour yesterday to “the beautiful hot springs where you can get rejuvinated with a therapeutic mud bath”.  They took us into the middle of nowhere and said, “OK jump in.” We had to jump off the boat into cold waves and swim our guts out to get to the little bit warmer springs.  The only mud was the slime under our toes.  There was a delapidated water closet way up a steep stony hill.  You’d kill yourself trying to get to it.  Maybe that’s why the water was warmer.  I have discovered that my phobias extend well beyond dogs.  They include cats, overly friendly pelicans, unclothed sunbathers, and walking the beach without my helmet.  All of these are hard to avoid in Greece.

Bob is afraid you will think I am really complaining.  I’m only trying to prepare myself mentally for leaving this wonderful place.  I never want to leave and never want Kay and Arnie to leave!  They are awesome!  Bob and I will be traveling alone from now on.  We head for Milan tonight.
